Winter Challenge /
The
weather didn’t cooperate with the paddle part, but the swimming was excellent.
As none of our swimmers had any Short Course Meter times, every swim was a
Life-Time-Best !!! The Heat dominated the first day of
the meet winning fifteen events ! Augustina Edmondson (who swam Sunday as well) won the 11-12 Girls High Point Award ! Congratulations Augie !!!
Sunday’s
projected weather forced us to scrap the river trip. The outfitters actually
came and found us at the pool to strongly suggest that we don’t go. It is still
a trip that we would like to do and February 9 was suggested as a possibility.
February and March pretty tight, so we will look into a trip in April … more later.
Sweetheart
Raffle
The
winter fund raiser will be a raffle … Top prize $500, $250 for second, and $100
for third. Tickets will be $5 each. Sales will end February 8 and the drawing will be held on February 14 (Valentine’s Day … Sweetheart
… get it). Everyone should have received their tickets by now … if not, see
Troy Maryniak TODAY !
The
winter fundraising obligation is $200 ($300 with two children and $360 with
three + children) and should have appeared on your January invoice. This fund
raiser is VERY important and we really NEED everyone to do a great job.
Many
of you have already sold your tickets and turned in your money. Many have not.
One week to go !!!
Golf
Tournament
The Tournament is fast approaching ! As far as sponsors go ... we would like to ask those with ties in the business community to help. If you know of a business or three that might be willing to sponsor this event, give that information to a member of the Golf Committee (their names appear on the attached letters/flyers). The sponsorship drive will be much more successful if we have a contact person at the businesses being solicited ... and if you called that person to let them know that a committee member would be contacting them, even better !
One last point regarding the Golf Tournament ... when we get this event up and running it will produce revenue. That will be revenue we do not have to generate through other fund raining activities (like raffles) ! Once established, this event will allow us to reduce the family fund raising obligations !!!
Upcoming
Meets
AZQ (State) and AZR (Regional) Times
are posted on our Swimmer’s Page !
We
will not be attending the
Mini Meet / Time Trials
We
will conduct a modified Mini Meet on Thursday, February 14 during regular
practice hours. ALL GROUPS will arrive at 4 PM for warm up. The timing system
will be used, but the format will be more relaxed than a regular Mini Meet.
It’s a chance race and chart our progress !
