The Sweetheart Raffle drawing was held during our
Potluck Dinner on Valentine’s Day, February 14. The winners were … $500 Rosi Lara, $250 Kim Walters, and $100 Brad & Katie
Edmondson. Congratulations !
There
were lots of best times and lots of second swims (finals) at the Lost Dutchman Invitational last weekend. Emily Hieber
(50 Back), Alex Curtis (100 Breast, 200 Breast, 200 Fly, and 200 IM), Danny
Russell-Cheung (50 Breast), and Andrew Russell-Cheung (50 Breast, 100 Breast,
and 200 Breast) established new team records ! Full results can be found on
our Meets & Results page.
The Regional and State Championships are approaching fast. Sign-up
forms for the Regionals have been distributed and are due this Friday. State sign-up forms will be out this week. A
list of qualifiers can be found in the Info
column on the Meets & Results
page.
The
team will take a Spring
Break in
late-March / early-April. Because Easter is so early this year, we will take a
long Easter weekend, swim for three days, swim the Season Finale at Chandler,
and then take a full week off … got all that ?!? Okay, broken down it will look
like this:

Board Notes
Your
Board of Directors approved the 2008-2009 Budget on February 11. There are two
major changes that you should be aware of.
1. Due
to increases in fees from Arizona Swimming and United States Swimming, Annual
Membership fees will increase in our next fiscal year (beginning April 1).
Membership Renewals will be $60 and New Members will be $95.
2.
Fund Raising will be broken up into two seasons instead of three. The June
Swim-A-Thon will be the major Summer event with a $300
obligation ($500 with two swimmers / $600 with three swimmers). Swim Meet Ad
Sales will be the second fund raising activity with a $200 obligation ($250
with two swimmers / $300 with three swimmers).
Golf
Tournament
The Tournament is fast approaching ! As far as sponsors go ... we would like to ask those with ties in the business community to help. If you know of a business or three that might be willing to sponsor this event, give that information to a member of the Golf Committee (their names appear on the attached letters/flyers). The sponsorship drive will be much more successful if we have a contact person at the businesses being solicited ... and if you called that person to let them know that a committee member would be contacting them, even better !
One last point regarding the Golf Tournament ... when we get this event up and running it will produce revenue. That will be revenue we do not have to generate through other fund raining activities (like raffles) ! Once established, this event will allow us to reduce the family fund raising obligations !!!
