Big News from Seattle (Federal Way actually)

Tyler Bhirdo, Myriah Frabasilio, and Katelyn Weddle competed in the Western Zone Speedo Championship Series (Sectionals) in Federal Way, Washington last week. Myriah dropped over 30 seconds in her 800 Meter Free to start the meet off on Wednesday night ! Tyler set a new team record in the 100 Meter Free on Thursday ! Katelyn also set a new team record on Thursday … a very fast 2:37.33 in the 200 Meter Breast … good for 5^th Place ! Tyler set another team record in the 200 Meter Free on Friday ! And on Saturday, Katelyn swam a 1:11.08 in the 100 Meter Breast … that folks, is a

US Olympic Trial Qualifying Time !!!

Arizona Regional Championships

The Regional Champ swimmers did a GREAT job ! Congratulations. The Heat took 21 swimmers to Goodyear, including relays in the 11-12 and 13-14 age groups. The team finished with over 2000 points and placed third in the meet !!!

The following swimmers won individual events at the meet:

Alex Curtis (11) 1000 Free (rec), 200 Breaststroke, 100 IM (rec), and 100 Breaststroke (Alex also set new team records in the 50 Breast and 400 IM)

State Championships

20 Heat swimmers will compete in the Arizona State Championships this weekend at Brophy Sports Complex in Phoenix. Our Meets & Results page has the complete meet info as well as our entry. Results will be posted as soon as they are available.

Practice Variations

No Senior or Orange 3 Practice Thursday, March 13; Friday, March 14; and Saturday March 15.

The team will take a Spring Break in late-March / early-April. Because Easter is so early this year, we will take a long Easter weekend, swim for three days, swim the Season Finale at Chandler, and then take a full week off … got all that ?!? Okay, broken down it will look like this:

Season Finale March 28-30

No Practice March 31-April 6

Golf Tournament

The Tournament is fast approaching ! As far as sponsors go ... we would like to ask those with ties in the business community to help. If you know of a business or three that might be willing to sponsor this event, give that information to a member of the Golf Committee (their names appear on the attached letters/flyers). The sponsorship drive will be much more successful if we have a contact person at the businesses being solicited ... and if you called that person to let them know that a committee member would be contacting them, even better !

One last point regarding the Golf Tournament ... when we get this event up and running it will produce revenue. That will be revenue we do not have to generate through other fund raining activities (like raffles) ! Once established, this event will allow us to reduce the family fund raising obligations !!!
