Swim-A-Thon
The Heat will hold a Swim-A-Thon on Saturday, June 17th at Marcus Pool. Like a Walk-A-Thon, a Swim-A-Thon participant solicits per-length pledges. A Swim-A-Thon participant may swim a maximum of 200 laps (5,000 yards) and there is a two hour time limit.
This is the team’s primary fund-raiser and EVERYONE is expected to participate. The Heat Board of Directors has made a special effort to keep monthly fees as low as possible. Your fees cover the very basic operations, but in order to be a GREAT program, additional monies must be generated.
There will be rewards for the most money raised, a raffle for all of those meeting the minimum expectation, and prizes for the fastest 5,000 in each age group (or most lengths swum in two hours for the younger age groups).
A detailed explanation and information sheet will be distributed later this week along with the official pledge sheets.
The Heat will field an IVSL team
this summer. This is a recreation league, not USA Swimming. The program will
run from June 5 through August 12 and will compete against other rec programs. Some of our
The Sandsharks (as they will be
called) now have a separate web on our website (hit the Sandshark button on the upper
left of our Home Page). All news and information regarding the Sandsharks will
be on this page.
For now … we want LOTS of new kids
to join the IVSL team !!! Spread the word.
Summer Meet Schedule(s)
The full meet schedule is now posted on our web site. There is an Adobe document on the NEWS!! page which includes some important dates (Swim-A-Thon, School’s Out, thing’s like that). The listing on the Meets & Results page will include specific meet information (as that information becomes available). The Sandsshark’s IVSL Meet Schedule is posted on the new Sandshark page.
Practice Schedule
There have been a few corrections to the summer schedule. They deal primarily with the morning Masters.
Team Equipment
The new
Summer Fashions will be ordered soon.
The order form will be sent out by May 25. Watch for it.
