Meets

The Tucson Ford Southwest Classic and Flagstaff Beat the Heat info and Heat entries are posted.

The meet sign-up form for the Fireworks Weekend Invitational (Las Vegas, NV – July 7 & 8) will be distributed this week and will be due by Friday, June 1 ! This is very early (the official deadline isn’t until June 26), but the meet may fill up quickly and we do not want to be too late with our entry.

Board Positions

We continue our search for someone to join the Board as Treasurer ! If you have any interest in this position, talk with Ron Corbin … soon. Thanks.
Our Registrars, Nancy Jones & Alison Keough, are getting our paperwork straightened up. It would help if they had a lap-top computer to use at the pool. If anyone has a lap-top that they don’t use and would like to loan it (or donate it … think tax write-off !) please let us know. The lap-top needs to be 1 GHz / 64 MB RAM / Windows 98 or better. Thanks !

Summer Sandsharks

Our Imperial Valley Swim League (IVSL) summer team, the Sandsharks, will swim from June 11 through August 4. Several Heat swimmers will participate in the Sandshark meets (duals and Saturday invitationals). Participating in the Sandshark meets can be a great way for our younger/newer swimmers to compete without the travel expenses associated with this summer’s USA schedule (Flagstaff, Tucson, Vegas … it adds up !). The Sandshark meet schedule can bee seen on the Sandshark page of the website.

If interested, check out the Sandshark page on our website. There is an IVSL Registration Fee of $11. Heat swimmers should NOT register with the City of Yuma ! A special registration form is attached. Return the form to the pool (drop-box or coach) along with a check for $11 made payable to Yuma Heat.

Also, if you know of anyone that might want to start their competitive swimming with the Sandsharks, please direct them to the website … full registration forms are available on the Sandshark page.

Lessons

Coach David Luquin is giving Private and Semi-Private Lessons at Marcus Pool. If you have younger children ready for the water, or if someone you know is looking for a quality swim instructor, call Coach David at 388-5284.
