The 2007 ConocoPhilips USA Swimming National Championships will air over five nights on a test Web site (www.usaswimming.sportnet.com) beginning July 31. The site will be promoted on both WMG’s www.sportnet.com and www.usaswimming.org .

Jesse Kaba will be swimming in the Far Western Championships in Concord, CA this weekend. Results will be posted as soon as they are available.

Katelyn Weddle will swim in the USA Junior National Championships next week in Indianapolis, IN. She will swim the 200 Breast on Tuesday and the 100 Breast on Thursday. Click the Results button on our Meets & Results page for up-to-the-minute, heat-by-heat action.

Meet Recap

Alex Curtis, Jonathan Duran, Augustina Edmondson, Myriah Frabasilio, Nick Frabasilio, Emily Hieber, Kayla Hodgin, Jesse Kaba, Sean Peters, and Jessica Roberts swam in the Arizona Age Group State Championships July 19-22 at Arizona State University in Tempe. Alex, Augustina, Myriah, Nick, Jesse, and Sean all scored (Top 16) in individual events. ! Our 13-14 Girls (Myriah, Jessica, Emily, and Kayla) scored in both the 200 Medley (13^th) and 200 Free Relays (10^th) !! FIFTEEN team records were broken !!! Alex: 50 Free, 100 Free, 200 Free, 400 Free, 200 Breast, and 200 IM / Jonathan: 50 Free / Myriah: 200 Free & 50 Fly / Nick: 50, 100, and 200 Back / Jesse: 200 Breast / Sean: 100 & 200 Fly

Eight Heat swimmers participated in the Season Finale at Brophy Prep in Phoenix last weekend. There were several highlights … Tyler Bhirdo made his first Speedo Championship Series (Sectional) qualifying time (56.10 in the 100 Free) … Coach Luquin returned to the pool as a competitor for the first time in over a year … Tyler set new team records in the 50 and 100 Free … Jonathan Duran dropped over one minute in his 400 Free to break the team record. He also set a new team record in the 50 Free.

Our Sandsharks WON the 2007 Imperial Valley Swim League (IVSL) Championships last Saturday at Marcus Pool. Yuma finished with 2086.5 points, El Centro 1885, Brawley 1822.5, Imperial 1319.5, Mexicali 1104.5, and Holtville 327.

Sandshark High Point winners were: Sydney Tunell (6 & Under Girls), Maddie-Jo Cardinal (7 & 8 Girls), Alan Curiel (7 & 8 Boys), Ariel Flores (9 & 10 Girls), and Chelsea Weddle (15 & 16 Girls). CONGRATULATIONS to Coach Judge, Coach Benz, and to all of the Sandshark swimmers. Also, a BIG thank you to those that helped run the meet.

Apparel

When we return on August 13, Troy Maryniak will be ready to do some Fall equipment orders ! This is the time that we do Team Parka and Tean Bag orders. Also, TruWest (our suit supplier) has introduced a thin-strap suit for girls. Some of you wanted this suit style, and now it will be available.

Scorpion Baseball Tickets

We have been contacted by the Yuma Scorpion Baseball team. They help local groups raise money and/or have a great team outing at the ball park. The deal is this … we sell tickets to the August 25^th (?) Scorpions game for $8.00 and we get $4.00 for each ticket sold. Profits from tickets sold will count toward your Fall Fund Raising obligation. It could also be a great team get together ! Troy Maryniak will have the tickets available the week of the 13^th.
