2008 Business Sponsorship Program
Yuma Heat is a member of United States Swimming and has been working with the young people
of Yuma for over 40 years. The program is designed to meet the needs of all swimmers, from
those learning to swim to those aspiring to become Olympic athletes.
As a club, we are dedicated to the development of character, teaching the value of hard work,
and the acceptance of personal responsibility. Competitive swimming is the classroom that we
use to develop these very desirable traits. Goal setting, dedication, risk taking, focus, self
motivation, and positive interpersonal relationships are tools that must be employed to become
successful in this highly competitive sport, and in the world beyond.
The Heat needs financial support from the community if our athletes are to excel. Team fees
generate enough money to operate a bare-bones swim team. Successful fund raising and business
sponsorship provide the resources necessary to grow and become a great swim team.
Business sponsorships (over $5,000 in 2007), combined with our two annual fundraising
projects (over $20,000 raised in 2007), allow us to keep the program affordable for Yuma’s
diverse population. In our effort to expand the swimming opportunities in Yuma, the Heat
applied for, and was awarded, a $2000 grant by the Yuma Community Foundation for the
creation of a Middle School Swimming Invitational. The inaugural meet was held May of 2007.
As a 501 C3 Not-for-Profit Corporation, all donations are tax deductible. In addition,
those supporting our effort will receive a certificate or plaque of appreciation and be
recognized in team publications, including the team web site (www.yumaheat.org) according
to our sponsorship matrix.
The Heat would like to reach as may young people as possible while providing the kind
of environment that breeds success for all participants. Please join us as we strive
to improve Yuma’s quality of life and the lives of its children.
We would be happy to schedule an appointment to discuss your donation and/or provide additional
information regarding the Yuma Heat Swim Team.

Swim-A-Thon June 2007
Thank you Yuma ! With your support, the 2007 Swim-A-Thon generated over $16,000. This event continues to be our major
annual fund raising activity. Without our swimmer's efforts, and your generous giving, the Heat could not be the great swim team that it is !
October 2007 Rummage Sale !
